Cinco de Mayo is one of the biggest party holidays in the country, and this is no truer than in the states west of the Mississippi. Phoenix, Arizona blows up for this day of celebration with block parties, live music, and nearly every hispanic restaurant in town having some sort of event.
Here are some of the top Cinco de Mayo events going down in Phoenix in 2019.
The Cinco de Mayo Phoenix Festival is probably the biggest and most well-known festival in the city. With a super-low $10 general admission price (and kids get in free!) it is incredibly affordable for everyone. This year, Grammy winners War provide musical entertainment. But that’s not all… There’s music playing all day, and enough authentic hispanic food and beer to carry you throughout the night.
If you’re a fan of live music, then skip the festivals and settle in for some exciting country-infused rock and roll. Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers are playing at The Van Buren in Phoenix. Joined by Ryan Hamilton and Harlequin Ghosts, this promises to be the spot for music on May the 5th.
Aunt Chilada’s is one of Phoenix’s legendary food joints, serving amazing hispanic food and drinks while hosting fun and festive live music. Cinco de Mayo is no different, and this year Aunt Chilada’s will host an entire weekend of celebration. On Friday, come check out the Chris Parker Project. On Saturday, there will be a live steel drum band accompanying the annual Cinco de Mayo Salsa Challenge. And on Sunday, the Chris Parker Project returns with Esteban and the Walkens to play live music all night, starting at 1 PM.
For the second year in a row, Chico Malo and Copper Blues are throwing the Cinco de Mayo Block Party. Chico Malo and other vendors will be serving authentic food, cerveza, and hispanic drinks to the hype beats of guest Lil Jon. This is the party to get lit in Phoenix on Cinco de Mayo.
Hip hop lovers can get on board with West Coast’s Cinco de Mayo celebration. This party, located at Da Factory Studios, is going to throw down beats from the hottest rappers and DJs in Phoenix. Performers include Mr. Shadow, Lil Danger, Travee Gee and J.O.K.E.S, Fancy the Boss, and more.
